TPEP Training Modules

A series of seven training modules is designed to prepare school leadership teams for the implementation of new educator evaluation systems through the following intended outcomes:

  • Make the components of educator evaluation concrete and actionable for educators and their evaluators.
  • Support district and school leadership teams in developing a common understanding of the new educator evaluation legislation, criteria, and frameworks, and the opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • Provide participants with implementation tips and strategies to help schools make educator evaluation meaningful and doable.
  • The training module series will accomplish these goals through the use of consistent, standardized training materials, detailed facilitator guides, and participant handouts.

The Teacher Training Fund

The 2014 Legislature appropriated $5 million “solely for the provision of training for teachers in the performance-based teacher principal evaluation program.�
School districts will apply for their portion of the funding through iGrants form package 664, which will be open mid-September. This communication provides districts with background information regarding resources to support local planning for teacher training. An OSPI bulletin will announce the opening of iGrant form package 664. As noted, expenses will be reimbursed upon approval of a school district’s plan for teacher learning.

TPEP Training Providers

A list of the authorized training providers that can be used for Teaching Training Fund money, including:

  • ICFFS/LCFFS (Instructional or Leardership Criteria and Framework Feedback Specialists)
  • FITs (Framework Introductory Trainers)
  • Framework Authors or Representatives

Rater Agreement Background

The new Washington State Evaluation System for teachers and principals will require new learning and ongoing support to increase the effectiveness of implementation. The four framework authors would like to underscore the importance of the shared experience between evaluator and evaluatee.
